Q.
Can I do any of my preparation the night before the show?
A. Absolutely! You can shampoo and rinse the night before a show (or even the day before), which saves a lot of time in the morning before your class. You can also do your white sock preparation - it is more effective if this is done the night before, rather than in the morning when you are in a rush. Use the Leg Whitener and then bandage up immediately (see explanation earlier in this section).
Immediately after shampooing - while your horse or pony is still wet - you can apply SUPREME Coat Gloss, which saves you doing it later and also makes grooming on the morning of the class much easier.
You can also plait manes and then use a SUPREME Lycra Hood, which is extremely effective in protecting and keeping the mane clean, as well as conditioning the coat and laying the plaits.
Q.
Do you have a product for holding in quarter marks?
A. You can use SUPREME de luxe Coat Gloss to help keep in quarter-marks. Groom as normal, use the Coat Gloss as an all over preparation to give shine but spray liberally on the quarters and then mark up. The Coat Gloss will help hold in the marks. Some people also use the Sparkle for the same purpose.
Q.
Do you have anything to cover over a mark or scar?
A. We have 2 different products in different colours that can temporarily cover over a mark or scar. The first is SUPREME Cover Magic, which is available in Black, White or Dark Brown. This is an aerosol spray 'powder' and will provide a semi-permanent cover. (White Cover Magic is also excellent for covering over last minute stable stains!).
The other product that is available is Matt Make-up - available in White, Brown, Dark Brown and Black. Because there are so many different colour variations we cannot produce a product for every colour animal, so if you have a grey you mix the white and black together to get the correct shade. For dark bay you mix the black and brown together and so on. Mix the colours together on the back of your hand until you have the correct shade then touch it over the area that you want to cover. The Make-up dries to a matt finish.
Use the products sparingly and they will last for a long time!
Q.
How do I get really white socks?
A. By using SUPREME Leg & Body Whitener - thats how! This is an amazingly effective whitener for socks and can also be used for rinsing / whitening the body. It comes in powder format in either 1 kilo, 2 œ kilo or 5 kilo containers and the most effective way to use this is to mix the powder with water into a paste (about the consistency of yoghurt) and then paint it with a brush on to the socks. Immediately after you have done this, bandage up the socks - do this while the legs are still wet, and that's all you have to do!
Do this the night before your show, and on the morning of the class just un-bandage, shake out your bandages and you will have amazingly white legs. If you need to touch up any last minute stable stains you can touch a damp sponge into the powder and just dab it over the stain to cover it.
If you have excess paste in the pot that you have mixed it in, do not discard it. It will dry out back to a powder and the next time you need it, just mix with water and work back into a smooth paste.
For the body whitener usage, use about an egg-cup full of the whitener in a 2 Gallon bucket of water. This can be used as a rinse for all over body whitening.
The Leg & Body Whitener is not chalk. It is more effective and brings out much whiter legs - almost silvery white. If you have painted it on to the socks the night before a class and let it sink in to the hairs you will not get any powdery excess when a judge runs their hand down the socks.

Q.
How do I use DeFUSE? How much should I give?
A. You administer SUPREME DeFUSE only on the day that you need to calm your horse or pony. It does not require any 'build-up' over previous days or weeks.
There are 2 'variables' when administering DeFUSE:
When to administer DeFUSE and
How much to give.
The guideline for giving DeFUSE is with an Oral Syringe approximately 2 Å“ hours before you need to have your pony or horse calm. Obviously each animal is different so you may see in some horses calmer behaviour in 1 Å“ hours whereas in others it may take 2 Å“ - 3 hours. We always advise first time users to try DeFUSE at home, before the first time you need it in 'earnest.' This gives you the opportunity to evaluate the time it takes to calm your animal.
The second variable is how much you need to administer. The guidelines are for ponies 30ml - 60ml and for horses 60ml - 90 ml. We suggest that when you give it to your animal the first time, that you give the upper guideline level. If this works first time, you may try reducing the amount by 5 or 10 ml the next time - as you may be using too much and therefore wasting it!
You cannot overdose your horse or pony, any excess that is not required will just be passed and it will have no detrimental effect on performance, it will just allow your horse or pony to concentrate on the 'job in hand' and take away the nerves.
To assist in administrating DeFUSE, we sell both Oral Syringes and a new product for 2005, which is an 'Easy Wormer.' With the Easy Wormer, DeFUSE is deposited on the back of the tongue making it impossible to spit out!
Q.
How much Blue Rinse should I use?
A. You use SUPREME Blue Rinse very sparingly! This cannot be stressed enough - if you use too much you may have a blue 'tinge' to your horse or pony which is not the effect that you are looking for! If you use the correct amount, you will get a deep shine, good condition to blacks, browns and coloureds and it enhances the colour of White's and Grey's. Use slightly less than half of a level teaspoon of Blue Rinse in a 2 gallon bucket of warm water after normal shampooing as a final rinse.
Q.
Is there anything that can get stables stains out of a white / grey tail?
A. This is a question we get asked often! Yellow tails are notoriously difficult to get white. We at SUPREME Products do not believe in using dyes or bleaches in our products. Bleach can often also make a tail go more yellow so we strongly advise people to avoid using these kinds of harsh materials in the production of their horses for the ring.
We have a number of products that will assist in removing yellow stains from tails and on bodies. We have SUPREME Stain Removing Shampoo which can be lathered in, left on the tail / body to soak in then rinsed off. For really stubborn stains or for ground in yellow colour in the tail, you may need to use this product a number of times, but after each usage you will see a marked improvement. We also have SUPREME Stain Remover Spray. This is for last minute stains - you know, those stains that always appear just before you go in the ring! - you spray over the stain, allow to soak in then using a sponge with warm water - or just cold water on it's own if that's all you have available - rinse off the stain remover and the stain will be broken down and will have disappeared!
To assist in the removal of stable stains you can also use SUPREME Blue Shampoo, SUPREME Blue Rinse or SUPREME Leg & Body Whitener.
SUPREME White Cover Magic will also cover up yellow urine stains in tails and on white socks (as a last minute cover up) and will produce a really white finish.
Q.
My Glistening Oil has gone cloudy, is there something wrong with it?
A. There is nothing wrong with the product. Glistening Oil sometimes can go cloudy if it has been stored in too cool a place. It is no less effective because it has gone slightly cloudy. To clear the cloudiness, however, either slowly and gently warm through the product in a jar or jug, OR, boil some water, let it cool then pour it in to a large bowl and place the Glistening Oil (in it's container!) in to the warm water to heat it gently through.
Q.
The nozzle on my 'Cover Magic' Can is blocked, what can I do?
A. SUPREME Cover Magic (Black, White or Bay) is a powder-like product in an aerosol can. If the nozzle does get blocked, take it off and soak it overnight in a bowl of hot water with a small amount of washing up liquid. All that has happened is that a small amount of the 'powder' has hardened, blocking the spray are
The way to avoid this happening all-together is when you have finished using Cover Magic, turn the can upside down and spray a jet out for approximately half a second, this clears the nozzle so not powder will harden.
Q.
What is Blue Rinse?
A. Blue Rinse is a highly concentrated product that is used in final rinsing for White's and Grey's and also creates a deep shine on brown and black horses as well as coloureds.
Q.
What is Glistening Oil? When would you use it?
A. Glistening Oil is used for the same purpose as the Highlighters, however is an oil product. It is excellent under artificial lights and produces an excellent shine. It also contains a sun repellent and will protect round eyes, nose, muzzle etc. It is not Baby Oil (why fries the skin and also clogs the pores and collects dust) - it is a much lighter consistency oil and is much more effective and long lasting.
Q.
What is Supreme Sparkle?
A. SUPREME Sparkle is an excellent Mane and Tail Dressing which really adds shine and lustre. If you plait, plait the mane first then spray over a little Sparkle. You can use this sparingly. For tails, groom as normal then fan the tail out, spray Sparkle down the length of the tail, then run your fingers through the tail. Sparkle will add volume to the tail as it coats each of the hairs, it detangles, adds shine and brings out the different colours in the mane and tail.
Sparkle is our most popular product and you can really see the difference in your horse or pony's appearance after using Sparkle. People swear by it!
Whilst this was designed as a Mane and Tail Dressing - and it really is incredibly effective - people do use Sparkle for a multitude of other uses. It can be used to hold in quarter marks and can be used on any part of the body (with the exception of eyes and face) to add that little bit of extra shine.
A top tip from a Professional Producer - she uses Sparkle for that last minute touch up to the toes of her boots just as she goes in to the ring as well as on her horses' hooves!
Q.
What is the difference between Blue Rinse & Blue Tint?
A. Blue Rinse is in powder format and Blue Tint is in liquid format. You use both products as a final rinse for whites and greys and also for enhancing colour and shine on darker coats. The main difference is simply the 'format' in which it comes in - some people prefer a liquid whilst others prefer a powder. The main thing to remember is that you should use this product sparingly - a little does go a long way so make sure you don't use too much!
Q.
What is the difference between Coat Gloss and Spray & Shine?
A. SUPREME de luxe Coat Gloss is an extremely effective coat shine which lays the coat and produces a top class finish.
SUPREME Spray & Shine adds an extra gleam when used on top of SUPREME Coat Gloss and is particularly effective under lights and in sunlight.
We strongly recommend that you use Supreme Coat Gloss in your coat preparation and when the coat is dry, spray on a light dusting of Spray & Shine (avoiding saddle area). Spray & Shine will add that final lustre and brilliant shine.
Spray & Shine is an oil-based product. We do not recommend using Spray & Shine without first using Coat Gloss - without using Coat Gloss first, the coat may absorb the oil and may 'lift' the coat as well as possibly making the coat look greasy.
Q.
What is the difference between Highlighter Gel & Highlighter Gloss?
A. The Highlighter Gel and Highlighter Gloss are used for highlighting around the eyes, ears, nose, muzzle, knee's etc. The two products are used for the same purpose and they have a slightly different consistency. The main difference between the two products is that the Highlighter contains Citronella.
Highlighter Gloss is a slightly 'lighter' consistency and is also more 'glisteny.'

Q.
How do I know my Body Wrap fits correctly?
A. You need to look at the stitching across the chest and down the nose. The Body Wrap needs to be close fitting, but not tight. If the stitching is taut or the Body Wrap is tight, you will need to increase the size. Try the Body Wrap on your horse or pony when he / she is clean and dry and look for a good close fit, but make sure the stitching is not pulled taut. If it is, ring us, return the Body Wrap in a saleable condition and we will change it for you for the next size up.
You should have some excess material in the neck - some slight folds of fabric. This is to allow your horse or pony to comfortable drop his or her head and the fabric will take the stretch well.
Our sizes are based on Riding Pony / Riding Horse types, so for natives and chunkier types you will need to go up one size (i.e. for a 13.2hh Section C, you would need to purchase a 14.2hh Body Wrap.)
Don't go to a retailer who sells 'Small, Medium and Large' - you will not get a good fit! There are too many variations in shape and size to be covered by three sizes - go to a retailer who understands the sizing and can provide you with an exceptionally good fitting garment.
Q.
What is a Two in One?
A. This is a combination 'Hood' and 'Vest' in one. They are worn under the rug and can be used for stable and turn-out use. Sizes are 11.0hh to 17.2hh.
Q.
What is so good about your Body Wrap as opposed to others on the market?
A. The SUPREME Body Wrap is a Rug Wrap and Hood combined. It covers the full body and is effective at reducing new season hair growth. It will lay the mane and keep the full body clean and covered. Sizes are 11.0hh to 17.2hh and the Body Wrap is available in Navy.

Due to the design and quality of the fabric, these garments will last for years as well as fit brilliantly and 'knock the socks off' other garments on the market.
Q.
When would I use a Rug Wrap?
A. This is a garment that is close fitting (but not tight) and is worn underneath the rug, to protect the full rug area of the body from rug-rub or irritation. It has an under-belly zip and rear leg straps. The SUPREME Rug Wrap can be used in conjunction with a hood if required. The rug wrap eliminates the use of bulky duvets and extra rugs. Sizes are 11.0hh to 17.2hh and are available in Navy.
Q.
When would I use an anti rub Vest?
A. This garment is used to protect the chest area and withers from rug rub. They should be worn close fitting but not tight and are secured with an under-belly strap to ensure they are kept in place. Sizes range from Pony Foal / Miniature to 18.2hh.
Q.
Why use a Supreme Fleece Hood?
A. These are stretchy fleece hoods and are produced primarily for warmth in the colder months. They can be used in conjunction with the Lycra Hood - i.e. fit the Lycra Hood to lay the mane and protect and condition the coat and then fit the Fleece Hood on top of the Lycra for that extra layer of warmth. The fabric is luxurious and will mould to the face and neck. There are a number of colours and styles available - we have Navy as well as Pale Pink and Bright Pink Sheep; Checked patterns as well as a cute Teddy fabric. Sizes are 11.0hh to 18.2hh
Q.
Why would I use your Lycra Hood?
A. We produce sizes ranging from Pony Foal / Miniature to 18.2hh. The hoods are used to keep your pony clean, protect plaits, condition the coat and lay the mane - amongst many other uses. Colours are Scarlet, Navy, Black, Pink and Burgundy as standard. There are other colours available dependent on supply. SUPREME hoods should be worn over the top of rugs, secured at the back by elasticated loops which can be attached to the cross surcingles on your rug or a roller and attached at the front via the loop onto the rug buckle. They can be worn whilst riding in.
These are fantastic garments, made of the highest quality Italian Lycra mix and will outlast other hoods on the market due to their design and quality of the fabric. Don't forget, these are designed to be worn over the tops of rugs, not undermeath. Used properly, these hoods will do an excellent job and add condition and shine to the coat and keep your horse or pony pristine.
